About Us

Farmers’ markets come in many shapes and sizes, and the new Community Market starting in Port Hawkesbury is no exception. Starting Thursday, June 14th, and continuing into October, the market will be held at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre from 2pm-6pm.

While this is early in the growing season, there will be a variety of products ranging from annuals, baked goods, manure, eggs, and workby craft producers. For those starting in the market business, two incubator tables will be available for those who want to work together to provide produce for the community.

It is the goal of the Port Hawkesbury Community Market to give consumers in the Strait Area an opportunity to interact directly with those who take an active role in producing the items they sell.

We aim to market products grown, made, or finished locally.  Examples of products that we plan to market include:  locally grown vegetables, locally raised chicken, locally caught lobster, locally made breads, cheeses, crafts, etc. The Market emphasizes farm products and food but welcomes arts and crafts of the local economy.

This is the first year for the Port Hawkesbury Community Market, and as such Market organizers anticipate that the Market will experience some fluctuations in this inaugural season as we strive to meet the expectations and needs of vendors and consumers.

Prospective Vendors

Preference will be given to food products, but artisans with original and local products are encouraged to apply to the Market.  The goal of the Port Hawkesbury Farmers’ Market will be to have a ratio of food product to craft/cosmetic at 3:1).
