FUSION Food Live!, is an exciting event celebrating and promoting the benefits of local, sustainable food options, will be held Saturday June 11 from 12-4pm at the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market.
The event will feature Chef Richard Julien of ChefLive! (http://cheflive.ca) who will show participants how to prepare a delicious dish with ingredients sourced at the Farmers Market. The event will also feature Sean Gallagher of LocalSource Market (http://www.localsourcemarket.com), who will be on hand to discuss the benefits and ease of including local food choices. There will also be the opportunity to pair local wines with the dish, providing further evidence of the high quality of product that can be sourced locally.
The event will be divided into two sessions (starting at 12:30 and 2:30 respectively), and we look forward to having between 20-25 people at each session (the cost to attend the event will be $20).
To further engage the audience, the speaker will be able to take participants through the market to make a person-to-person connection with the market vendors who supplied the ingredients. Participants will also leave with an information package, highlighting the recipe from that day, simple modifications, vendor information, sponsor logos and a list of locally available foods by season. The main objective of the event is to encourage people to find out more about including local food options, to promote market vendors, and encourage people to discover the high quality of many local food products.
