Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if my child / children didn’t get their voucher?
Due to the program timelines occurring close to the end of the school year, some school administrators elected to hold the vouchers for distribution in September when attendance numbers are higher. But don’t worry! The vouchers don’t expire until December 31, 2024.
Students who have not yet received their voucher in September will need to contact their individual school administration to determine the status.
What if my student graduated grade 12 this year and didn’t receive their NS Loyal School Vouchers in June?
We would encourage recent graduates who did not receive their voucher and want to participate in the program to contact their school administration in September to see if they can receive them.
What can the vouchers be redeemed for?
Vouchers can be redeemed with any market vendor at participating FMNS member farmers’ market locations (see list above). The only exception is that vouchers cannot be redeemed towards beverage alcohol products. We encourage students to explore the market and find a producer or maker that interests them.
Who got the NS Loyal School Vouchers?
All Nova Scotia public schools and Mi’kmaw Kina’matnewey schools received the vouchers for distribution to students.
Registered homeschool students should have received an email from the Department of Education in July providing you with a link to opt into the program. Another email will be sent through the Department of Education in September reminding registered homeschool students about the opportunity.
Where can we use them?
Vouchers can be redeemed at a vendor at a participating FMNS member farmers’ market location (see list above).
Please note: Vouchers cannot be used at non-FMNS member farmers’ markets or grocers such as farm markets.
