The evening breezes are growing cooler and cooler, and the leaves on the trees are starting to change colour. It’s hard not to feel that change is quite literally in the air. And while change can be a good thing, it can also bring an unsettling level of uncertainty along with it. With all that we’ve been through together so far in 2020, it’s natural to feel a little uncomfortable from time to time. While these are uncertain times, we’re steadfast in one thing that we’re certain about: farmers’ markets have never been more important than they are right now. Through thick and thin, we’ve seen our farmers’ markets rise to the occasion, constantly adapting to safely bring the best of Nova Scotia directly to Nova Scotians. Above and beyond the important role of keeping dollars circulating in our local economies, farmers’ markets have been safe havens, hubs for neighbourliness, and our community. We invite you to watch this short video that captures the essence of our farmers’ markets. Feel the warmth. Let the smiles light you up. Remind yourself that Nova Scotia’s farmers’ markets are your farmers’ markets. Your farmers, your bakers, brewers, artisans, artists, and so much more. We’re all in this together. And while the look, feel, and shape of our farmers’ markets may be different for the next little while compared to what you see in this video, remember that it’s this essence that gives us certainty, comfort, and hope. We are a beautiful, supportive, and growing community, and we’re all in this together. This is why farmers’ markets are so important right now and will continue to be well into the future. From Justin, Alicia, Emily, and our Board, we thank you for being part of our community. Click to start the video below:
