Spring is here in Nova Scotia! With warmer weather comes more open farmers’ markets filling up with seasonal produce and goodies. Here’s a list of 9 farmers’ markets that open early for the season. Tatamagouche Farmers’ Market

The Tatamagouche Farmers’ Market has opened this month for the season! This market is located at Creamery Square in Tatamagouche and provides a vibrant spot for local farmers, producers, artisans, bakers and more to sell their wares to the over 25,000 visitors to the market each year.  Open until Christmas on Saturday mornings, you will find a full array of seasonal produce, baked goods, meats, prepared foods, breakfast dishes, crafts and more at the market! Open Saturdays March-December.

 

Annapolis Royal Farmers’ and Traders Market

The Annapolis Royal Farmers’ and Traders Market was first envisioned in 1976 by a handful of local farmers with a surplus of crops. 40+ years later, this market is the largest outdoor market in the province with over 100 vendors (their market has adapted according to COVID-19 restrictions). We are so thrilled that this vibrant community hub has recently joined our co-operative. Make sure to follow them online to see their wide range of offerings! Open May-October on Saturdays, and July-Sept on Wednesdays.

 

Hubbards Farmers’ Market

The seed for the Hubbards Farmers’ Market was planted in 1996 by three passionate gardeners who wanted to shop locally. Eventually, the market moved to  Hubbards Barn & Community Park and has been the home to the Market since 2001. This lovely market 35 local producers and showcases local musicians in their charming location. Open Saturdays May-October.

 

Kentville Farmers’ Market

The Kentville Farmers’ Market begun in 2007 and takes place in the Kentville Centre Square, a large paved and cobblestone parking area with trees and a community gazebo. The market boasts over 30 vendors, a commitment to 100% local Nova Scotian product, weekly live music, free children’s art activities during the summer, bistro seating, and more! Open Wednesdays May to October.

 

Chester Farmers’ & Artisan Market

The Chester Farmers’ & Artisan Market is a seasonal, outdoor market offering a variety of local products to the South Shore community. Taking place on Friday mornings, visiting this market is the perfect way to end your week and stock up for the weekend on market goodies. This market will be opening for the season on May 28! Open Fridays May-October.

 

North Mountain Market

The North Mountain Market is located at the United Church in Harbourville, Nova Scotia. They are comprised exclusively of vendors who make, bake, grow or raise the products they sell. They mission is to host a welcoming space in our community that celebrates and enhances our local culture, economy and quality of life. They are opening for the season on May 29th! Open Saturdays May-October.

 

Privateer Farmers’ Market

Privateer Farmers’ Market is located in Liverpool on the South Shore. This Saturday market features local produce, pastured meat and eggs, French baked bread and treats, coffee, as well as local artisans who work wonders in wood, soap, wool, metal and soil. Open Saturdays May-October.

 

Argyle Farmers’ & Artisanal Market

The Argyle Farmers’ & Artisanal Market is located in Tusket, Nova Scotia. This market is a great place to buy locally raised produce, honey and eggs, delicious freshly baked goods, handmade body products, and locally created crafts and photography. Open Saturdays June-August.

 


Bridgewater Farmers’ Market


The Bridgewater Farmers’ Market has been building a community of local vendors since 2009. This outdoor market is open Saturdays rain or shine! Don’t miss out on their expanded artisan/craft market on the last Saturday of each month beginning in June. This market is also well known for their wonderful holiday markets. They open for the season on May 29th! Open Saturdays May-October.
