FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE: Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia Partners with Province through Nova Scotia Loyal School Voucher Program

June 5, 2024

Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia Cooperative (FMNS), the province’s farmers’ market sector association of over 40 member farmers’ markets, is excited to announce that it has officially partnered with the Province of Nova Scotia to launch the Nova Scotia Loyal School Voucher Program

“Through this program, a $10 voucher will be sent to each and every one of the over 130,000 Nova Scotia Public School students,” says Justin Cantafio, Executive Director of Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia. “That means there will be more than $1.3 million in Nova Scotia Loyal School Vouchers in circulation this year, helping students and their caregivers connect with farmers’ markets and the incredible farmers and producers who sell there. Nova Scotia’s students and their families will gain renewed connections to our province’s bountiful food and farming sector, while local producers will benefit from increased sales from new customers. It’s a win-win program!”

The program is intended to bring more people to the farmers’ market, while helping to create a new generation of buy local supporters. The $10 vouchers will be distributed throughout public schools during the month of June and will be redeemable exclusively on locally grown and produced products at select FMNS member farmers’ markets anytime until December 31, 2024.

Please note: Caregivers can find a list of Nova Scotian farmers’ markets participating in this program by going to www.farmersmarketsnovascotia.ca/NSL.
