Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia is proud to welcome Alison Lynes as our new Executive Director!
Alison is a familiar and friendly face within the market community. A true farmers’ market champion, Alison has started markets, sold at them, managed them, and taught farmers’ market management. She even wrote our guidebooks for both market managers and vendors.
Alison has been part of the Halifax Brewery Farmers’ Market Cooperative for nearly a decade and brings extensive experience in what can only be described as the perfect trifecta: agriculture, leadership, and program development. Her deep understanding of the sector and cooperative management, combined with her passion for local food systems, makes her the ideal fit to lead our organization.
We are thrilled to bring in Alison and look forward to this new chapter at Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming her to the team!
Alison’s Bio: Originally from Ontario, the granddaughter of subsistence farmers and failed grocery store owners, Alison has enjoyed collaborating with seed sellers, small groceries, farms, developers, food agencies and municipalities to build community and resource the local foodshed. Working with the Halifax Brewery Farmers Market Cooperative since 2017, and previously managing a market in Northern Ontario, Alison brings direct experience with starting and strengthening markets to FMNS.
This is fantastic news. Alison has so much knowledge and experience that will benefit the FMNS. Based on her success at the Brewery Market, I have a lot of confidence in her ability to lead the organization to great things. Welcome Alison!
